"Birth Dance Doulas is proud to welcome our new babies for 2009 and 2010!  A heartfelt thank you to the families that invited me to share with them the most precious and intimate moments of their lives!  I feel blessed every day to be involved in such wonderful life work."  Tessa Brown, Owner-Birth Dance Doulas

Tessa became my doula in the last 2 months of my pregnancy. When I first met her I immediately felt her passion to inform and encourage women through their pregnancy to prepare them for birth and motherhood.
She knew how strong my desire was for a natural birth, and how hard this can be to achieve in a hospital.   At this point, I was scheduled to deliver at Evergreen Hospital. Tessa had begun to research birthing centers that still had availability just in case I decided to switch. What a relief this was to me when at 37 weeks I decided to make the switch!
I was also impressed with how often Tessa would check in on me and make sure everything was ok. She was so knowledgeable about pregnancy and birth and was always able to answer all of my questions. I dont believe I ever waited more than two minutes for her to call me back.
After the birth of my daughter, Tessa made it clear to me that if I was having any post-partum depression she would be there for me and I would never have to feel alone.
Because of her love for her clients she not only became a friend, but such a dear part of our family. I love knowing that my daughter will grow to know the woman that helped her mom through such an amazing part of her life.

This is one dedicated Doula! This birth was my third pregnancy. My previous birth experiences were natural, and both in a hospital; this was my first experience at a birthcenter.

Having Tessa available to me during my pregnancy saved my sanity. This being my third baby I was quite educated in pregnancy and birth, which made me constantly overthink everything. Around 30 weeks I experienced pretem labor and went to the hospital in the middle of the night; Tessa met my husband and I at the hospital. I was crying  and so fustrated, all I could think of was not getting my "water birth". During triage the nurse continued to ask me questions and poke me during contractions; I felt Tessa was the only one who cared about me as she held my hand and kept a constant presence. My husband was tired and stressed; Tessa provided him time to go out in the waiting room and sleep.

The night I went into labor I had no early sings, I went to bed, my water broke, I started in active labor. Tessa came to my home within fifteen minutes. I was at ease with her presence. My contractions were very close together. Tessa found ways to include my husband such as showing him how to use her hot stones on my lower back; for that I was so thankfull. My labor was very short, lasting only 2.5 hours. Tessa was on her toes constantly following me around as I tried to find something that would make the discomfort manageable. After the birth Tessa fed me, made sure Emmie's latch was good, and took some great photos.

Even though I was a third time mom I had never sucessfully breastfed. Breastfeeding was a goal Tessa and I had set during the pregnancy. Tessa helped me accomplish my goal; and now almost seven months later I am still breastfeeding.

Over the course of almost a year Tessa and I have became dear friends; I could never be more thankful to have her in my life.  Tiffany, Mother of 3/Doula

Kelsi naturally birthed her beautiful baby girl, in April 2010 peacefully, and quickly, with a calm, quiet, hospital birth.  She was strengthened by the love and intimacy of her wonderful husband, Corey.  The family was supported, comforted, and encouraged by their birth doula, Tessa.  Kelsi's sweet daughter, Mitzi was quiet and relaxed after her peaceful birth, and began to breastfeed quickly after.

Tiffany, birthed her beautiful daughter Emmie, at Eastside Birth Centers, in Bellevue.  Tiffany chose to birth in water, using hypnosis and surrounded by her children and family. It was truly the fastest and most peaceful birth I have experienced in my 13 years working with birth.. Tiffany remained so relaxed it appeared she was sleeeping thru late active labor, and transition.  Moments into "breathing baby down", Tiffany's only words the entire labor broke the immense silence in the room when she groggily said, "Im SO excited".  Moments later her daughter was gently birthed, from one warm water environment to the other.  And was nursing heartily within 30 minutes.
